Marie Claire Arabic -Its name is appropriate
--------------------------------------------
One of the most important icons in the world of luxury French and one of the leading international leaders in the field of perfume and cosmetics. It is France's Guerlain which is still in the lead even after 190 years, despite the great competition it is experiencing.

If the Terracota powder from Guerlain is sold every 20 seconds, imagine the success of the new Mon Guerlain in March 2018.

We are on a date with more magic and magnificence in a fragrance that will astound women and captivate men's minds!

The name Angelina is also derived from the word "angel" in English, a word describing the spirit of this woman and her angelic personality and has already proved to be an angel on earth.

Over time, the image of this contemporary star evolves and grows more and more attractive both in terms of her professional life and her social and human activities.

Her image came to mind when I met her at the Guerlain House for an interview with Marie Claire, the only Arab magazine to be invited. Jolie, with elegance, charm, beauty and unmatched brilliance!

She chose a light beige view and a very fine reception to receive her charm throughout the room. I saw many aspects, I saw the mother and housewife and saw a woman determined on the one hand but very soft on the other. It seemed to me to be an embodiment of the empowerment of contemporary women. There is no doubt that Angelina stands out and shines in the field of cinema, but in return she sets herself apart and works with all her might in human activities.

She is the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and has more than 50 humanitarian missions registered in more than 10 third world countries. When Guerlain chose her new ambassador, she did not list multiple names to choose the most appropriate, but put only one name: Angelina Jolie. So the choice was natural, as if this relationship that brings together this exceptional woman is like a mother's relationship with her daughter.  In this context Angelina's "angelic" aspect also appears in her personal life, not only in her career. Of the six children, three were from different countries. Family members speak more than 10 languages under one roof. In our interview with Jolie, she told me how interested she was in educating her children and about their desire to share experiences of life and real feelings to form an idea of reality as well as theories. She took her son Maddox, for example, to Cambodia, where she was filming her film to get to know his native country and also accompany her second son to practice his hobby of photography on the ground. She is making great efforts to support her children and teach them outside the classical framework to experience life on the ground as well, just as her son saw us in our interview with Guerlain, who was training to become a perfume expert at the house. Finally, Angelina Jolie's education reflects on her children the message of peace that she carries and tries to spread throughout the world.

Angelina Jolie Once Colored Her Hair with a Sharpie

On a chilly January evening, Angelina Jolie nestles into a couch inside the highly fragrant Guerlain boutique on Paris’s Champs-Élysées. We’re meeting to toast the launch of Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Florale, for which she is the face. Jolie’s face, apart from softly smoked eyes, looks natural. “We’re all pretty natural,” she says of her family. She takes her time as she discusses her makeup skills (they’re good, but daughter Zahara is more the enthusiast), her skin (cared for by a dermatologist since she was 11), and her views on what it’s like to age when you’re known as one of the world’s most beautiful women.

How beauty-aware were you growing up? Did you experiment with your hair and makeup?
I’m sure I had my moments when I was little where I would put makeup all over my face, but I was a bit of a tomboy. And then I was a bit of a punk. Nowadays it’s very popular to dye your hair blue, for example. In my day you bleached it and used a Sharpie [for color].

You did that?
Yeah! I suppose my early memories were more as a creative person—and then early on as an actor. It’s a mask; it’s a part of creating a character. I’ve never gone to a girlfriend’s house and played makeup. I’m not one of those women who say, “Hey, let’s have a night and do each other’s hair.” I’ve never been that, but I find that really sweet. I buy a lot, especially for Z [Zahara]. She went through a period of trying different things, but she’s pretty natural. I remember she had a girlfriend over one night, and they said they were going to do dress-up and did I have any makeup?

What did you say?
I gave them my makeup, but I wear one color red, and I have black eyeliner and mascara—I have the most boring makeup kit. And my daughter and I are different shades of brown. I now have a backup kit in case anybody wants to play.

Are you handy with a liquid liner? Can you get yourself event-ready in a pinch?
Oh, yeah, because I don’t want to have to depend on a makeup artist. I’m much more comfortable with just a little concealer for my dark circles. That’s my main thing.

Is there a feature of yours that you like to play up most?
It really depends. I do either dark eyes or red lips. I have very full, big features, so if I did everything, I’d look a bit like a clown. It’d be just… a lot.

How did you first discover Guerlain?
My mother [Marcheline Bertrand] wore very little makeup. But she had a few items for a special event or holiday, and they were always Guerlain. There were little scents and powders, and I would occasionally mess with them. I remember thinking, “That’s not the everyday stuff. That’s from Paris!”

Do you wear fragrance?
[When I’ve tried] on a perfume just for fun, my children have gotten upset. [They’d say,] “It doesn’t smell like you.”

Do you have a signature scent?
I wear Mon Guerlain. Before that I wore a different scent that was very random, but it had similar notes. As I was making this decision [to be the face of Mon Guerlain], I tested it with the kids. They recognized enough of it, and they liked it. I wear it, and Zahara wears it. I’m a terrible liar, so I couldn’t promote something I didn’t actually like.

I know this question will amuse you given your schedule, but how do you like to indulge and pamper yourself when you find the time?
[That’s] pretty funny. I’m that person saying “Can you not all be talking to me while I’m in the shower? Can you just not open the door at least? Let me finish and then I’ll get out. Give me a second.” “Give me a second” is the thing. I think most mothers say that all the time. Which now I can’t because my kids kind of go, “One. I gave you a second.”

OK, you have one minute all your own: How do you take care of yourself?
I’ve had the same dermatologist since I was 11; her name is Rhonda Rand. It’s who my mother brought me to when I was little with my first scar. To have somebody who is very encouraging of being as natural as possible has really helped me, I think. When I got pregnant, I had darker areas [on my face] that got darker. So I do IPL [intense pulsed light] every once in a while.

How do you define beauty?
The people I see as beautiful are those who don’t bend to somebody else’s opinion of what is appropriate or beautiful. I’ve always been drawn to people who are unique, different, and just simply themselves. It makes me a bit sad when I see somebody unable to live in their own skin and not feeling comfortable in it. There are a lot of things in society that make people feel that way.

Social media can make things tougher too.
It’s really hard for young people today, [when] people are constantly judging and critiquing and having opinions. It’s funny—I feel like decades ago, to be different was actually the thing you wanted. Now I think it seems to be more desired to be with the masses, to blend, or be as good as or be similar to. My children don’t really do a lot of social media. I’m hoping they’ll have room to figure out what they like before they’re told by a bunch of other people what they should like or how they’re being perceived. My mom used to say when I was little, “Let me see your soul.” That was her thing. Whenever I’d get upset or something, she’d say, “Let me see your soul.” What it meant was, “Show me you. Are you mad? Let me see.” I’ve never really talked about that. I think, I hope anyway, that’s how I’m raising my children: Put what’s inside you forward and find you, figure out who you are. Beauty—everybody has a different opinion about what that is. Intellect is the most beautiful. When you see somebody who has a mind on fire, that’s sexy. A person who is empathetic and thoughtful and passionate—there’s nothing more attractive than that. There’s nothing you could wear or put on your face to cover up if your mind is blank and your heart is dark.

You’re known as such a beauty—one of the most beautiful women in the world. How do you manage that?
Thank you. I look in the mirror and I see that I look like my mother, and that warms me. I also see myself aging, and I love it because it means I’m alive—I’m living and getting older. Don’t love having a random dark spot from a pregnancy, sure. I see my flaws. But what I see that I like isn’t about a structure or an appearance. It’s more that I see my family in my face. I see my age.

Of course she did not appear at the Oscars nor was she expected to. As an executive producer she was not a nominee and would not have received an Oscar if The Breadwinner had won.

"I think a lot of moms don't really rest. And somehow we find real pleasure in that.  I mean, even if I try to take a bath, I'll end up with at least two of my kids in there with me, which is lovely.  I wouldn't trade it all."

None of the children were photographed arriving or leaving the Guerlain HQ so they either used a back entrance or the private fragrance workshop for the family took place elsewhere.  At this point, the family has perfected the art of moving stealthily.

She made no mention of how she had to stay home and put all her work on pause for a year because the children needed her.  That chapter is long past, it's not at the forefront of her thoughts anymore

"We arrived at 1 o'clock this morning. I got up at 8am to do this and this person said to me, "Do you know what you need to do?  Rest.'"

"this person":
- was beside her when she got up at 8am;
- didn't want her to get up;
- knew she was tired and didn't have much sleep;
- was concerned about her;
- wanted her to rest;
- was waiting for her in Paris and isn't tired or sleepy;
- isn't looking forward to being with her while she does her work for Guerlain;
- is confident and comfortable challenging her and asserting her health is more important than being on time for her appointments;
- cares deeply for her.
Given all the above, "this person" is more than likely the only member of the family she couldn't publicly acknowledge until the process is officially completed;
- the co-owner of the estate in the South of France
- her husband
- who loves her.

"There’s still much beauty in the world and a lot of love. And a lot of love to be given."

She, Shiloh and Zahara were in Zaatari Camp Jan. 28.  They joined the rest of the family in Paris Jan. 29.

"You know all the good stuff in Mommy? She's just that.  Everything about Mommy that you love, when I'm my best and you like my stories, or you think I'm being really sweet and warm and funny -- that's my mom.  All the other stuff, the weird stuff, that's me.  All the good stuff's her."

This latest edition of Mon Guerlain has an influx of jasmine sambac...a symbol of hope and love.  Angelina...you can see how much of herself she gives to others and how close she is to her family.  I wanted to underline that in the composition.

Fragrantica

Mon Guerlain, launched in the spring of 2017, is Guerlain's tribute to contemporary women "with a strong, free and sensual femininity, as inspired by Angelina Jolie". Its new flanker Mon Guerlain Florale comes out a year later as a more floral and airy version of the original with additional notes of peony and an enhanced dose of Sambac jasmine.

The opening remains the same, with the signature note of Carla lavender. The heart retains Sambac jasmine in a higher concentration together with additional floral notes of peony and Paradisone molecule. The base includes vanilla with woody notes.

The elegant and timeless bottle design based on the Nuances d'or de Guerlain comes in rose-gold color after the champagne nuance of Mon Guerlain the original. The fragrance is available as a 50 and 100 ml the Eau de Parfum Florale.

Mon Guerlain Florale was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Thierry Wasser.

I had the pleasure of visiting Thomas Houseago’s studio in Los Angeles today. I was treated to the most inspiring afternoon. He is sculpting some monumental redwood pieces which felt like a crowd in the room. It’s an incredible indulgence to be able to spend time with other artists talking about art. Thomas is a brilliant sculptor with incredibly deep knowledge of form and light. His current work includes an exterior sculptural wall which will be installed at the LACMA. Anyone who creates should spend more time with other creators. I left today feeling incredibly inspired and utterly speechless seeing the studio of a master. #thomashouseago #sculptor @gagosian #gagosiangallery . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #artfurniture #functionalart #ultraluxury #exteriorfurniture #yachtdesign #superyacht #interiordesign #luxuryinteriors #luxuryarchitecture #pitt_pollaro . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #hermes #chanel #ferarri #steinwayandsons #porsche #cartier #rollsroyce #louisvuitton #bmw #bentley #moetchandon #maserati #domainedelaromaneeconti #christies #sothebys #forbes
