You and a guest will enjoy an intimate dinner party with Brad Pitt and an elite group of Global Green board members and donors on September 29th at a private home in Los Angeles, CA!
During this private event, Brad will discuss his longtime partnership with Global Green and the significant amount of funding they have developed for an exciting new initiative that they plan to launch.
The new initiative was "to continue developing and implementing green housing solutions" in New Orleans and "all around the nation." One of the attendees was New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
It isn't clear if funding for this new effort is part of the $20.5M MIR settlement announced earlier that .
The reports on the settlement stated
Each of the 107 Make It Right homeowners will be eligible to receive a $25,000 payment as reimbursement for previous repairs made by owners. The remainder of the money is slated to be divvied up according to the condition each of the blighted structures, which have dealt with numerous problems.
That leaves $17.8M to be divvied up to address specific problems and perhaps "implementing green housing solutions."
Global Green states that since 2007 it provided low-income New Orleans residents with "technical assistance on how to make their homes more energy efficient, storm resistant, and healthier." Brad is quoted as saying they "collaborated in the early-days post Katrina" which seems to imply that Global Greene's technical assistance was not tapped for the later construction of MIR's houses and did not contribute to their problems.
This raises some obvious questions: if Global Greene did not provide technical assistance to MIR during the construction and thus has no liability for any resulting defects, with only $4M in assets, why is it "giving" $20.5M to settle the lawsuits vs. MIR? And if it did provide such technical assistance which turned out to be faulty or inadequate, why would it be entrusted with more of the same?
Recall that in 2017, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation gave MIR a $500K zero interest loan "to help fund costs in connection with the pursuit of legal actions related to construction deficits in homes built for communities in need."
He said, "I really think it's high time I go and disappear for a while. And get back to making things. I look forward to that."
He disappeared for a week and reappeared in New Orleans to Make It Right. His new furniture line made by Pollaro was also unveiled this week.

He isn't averse to partying, but after the biggest award of his 30-year acting career, he didn't want to party with friends and associates, he wanted to celebrate and hang at home with his loved ones. He can't openly acknowledge Angelina just yet and in his interviews for Ad Astra last year, he used "loved ones" to refer to her distinctly. They both use "family" to include each other. During the years that the children were still closed down to him and didn't want to be alone with him, Brad always made a point to mention those he lovesandwho know and love him. It was a reflection of the overwhelming love and gratitude he feels towards the one who has always returned his love and to whom he literally owes his life --
Angelina. She is the best thing in his life, the key to his happiness, and he was eager to bring his Oscar home to and celebrate with her. She is the only one in the family who could also vote for him and she was as thrilled as he was if not more so. He has relied on her and she has done all she can to help and support him. She said, "I think it is not said enough how much we need the men in our lives to be strong and capable and the best they can be."

Six
nights after his big Academy Awards win, Pitt turned up at the far less
formal, far more lively Krewe du Kanaval post-parade bash at Latrobe’s
in the French Quarter.
The Saturday night celebration culminated a
huge weekend for Krewe du Kanaval, the hybrid Haitian/New Orleans
philanthropic Carnival organization co-founded by Win Butler and Régine
Chassagne of indie-rock band Arcade Fire and Preservation Hall’s Ben
Jaffe.
Did Kanaval experience some growing pains in its third year? Yes. Did everything go smoothly? No.
But
the krewe pulled off an ambitious costume ball of a concert with Arcade
Fire and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, a major procession down St.
Charles Avenue, and a party with Pitt, Jude Law and other A-listers.

On Saturday night, Kanaval banners decorated Latrobe's walls. Under
the domed ceiling of the main room, live Haitian music gave way to
like-minded deejays aided by a guy keeping the beat with a cowbell.
The
music held the interest of a certain newly minted Oscar winner. Brad
Pitt, like Law a "friend of the krewe," kept a relatively low profile.
Dressed down in a casual green jacket, brown hat and yellow sweater,
Pitt blended in with revelers, many of whom didn't recognize him or were
too busy enjoying themselves to care. Standing near the small stage,
Pitt watched the deejay and cowbell dude, grooving.
At 1 a.m., he
headed for the exit. Briefly stuck in a cluster of Kanaval krewe members
at Royal Street doorway, he patiently posed and smiled for a selfie
with a guy who couldn’t quite get his camera to cooperate. He then
disappeared into the damp New Orleans night.
The Kanaval party, not surprisingly, continued without him.
Cant believe i just met Brad Pitt like that at @KreweDuKanaval afterparty. We talked about his commitment to Haiti even before the earthquake. Cool dude really cool!
So many people would love to help they just dont know how! We need more Haitians building trustworthy bridges!
