"We
wanted to do something different, the MCU is about growing and evolving.
And you look at the amazing work that the artists and writers, Stan Lee
and Jack Kirby, everybody has done over 80 years in the comics. There are
so many more stories to tell. And Jack Kirby created
these characters, the Eternals, an epic that spans 7,000 years of human
history, has cosmic connotations, changes everything we know about the
MCU. And that is what we wanted to do, along with Black Widow, for the
beginning of Phase 4. To add something totally new, totally different, as
we keep going to new places.
"It's slightly ambitious and spans 7,000 years, from present-day to Mesopotamia, to all sorts of locations and time
periods, and really feels like nothing we’ve done before.
"Our director Chloe Zhao is brilliant. She is two things: a giant fan of the MCU, a giant fan of cinema, and is an incredible filmmaker who has brought a new look and a new vision to the MCU.
“The
MCU is connected but we really only focus on one movie at a time. We’re
going to make the best Black Widow we can possibly make, the best
Eternals we can make, the next Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange, Thor,
Captain Marvel, Black Panther. And keep evolving their stories
and seeing them come together in a master plan, which I promise you is
well underway.”
“The Eternals know the existence of the Avengers, the Avengers don’t know much about the Eternals, yet.”
"Celestials are a big part of it. We will see the Celestials in their full, true, enormous power in Eternals.
“Deviants are in the film. The Deviants in the mythology are extremely important in the plans of the Celestials. We’ll see Deviants that will look unlike any
Deviants you’ve seen in the comics. This is a new form of Deviants we’re
revealing in the movie.”
“Thanos in the
comics was an Eternal on Titan, there may be connection, but really this
is about ten new characters that are played by an incredible group of
actors that we’re focusing on.”
"We keep trying to do a better job of making our movie look like the world and our fans that see the movies. So people can see themselves up on that screen and these heroes, and Eternals is a tremendous example of that. When you look at those ten powerful heroes that look like all sorts of different people around the world, I want everyone in the theater to see themselves in some form or another as the heroes in our movies. That's the wish fulfillment of what the MCU is all about."

He surprised the crowd (and everyone squealed with ear-piercing
delight) with raw footage from the upcoming comic book pic starring
Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Lauren
Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Barry
Keoghan and Gemma Chan.
The footage starts with Keoghan’s Druig welcoming Sersi (Chan),
Ikaris (Madden), Kingo (Nanjiani), Makkari (Ridloff), Sprite (McHugh)
and Thena (Jolie) to some sort of ranch. “Make yourselves at home,” he
tells them.
From there, it cuts to various scenes which are woven together in an
epic tapestry that Feige said will “redefine and change” the MCU. We see
various members of the group in different parts of the globe, showing
the film’s diversity. We see brief glimpses of the characters using
their power as well as what seems to be a romance developing between
Chan’s Sersi and Madden’s Ikaris; Nanjiani’s Kingo in some sort of
Bollywood scene, McHugh’s Sprite clearing dust, and, of course, Jolie’s
Thena (as a blonde) kicking some major ass.
We get more glimpses of the other characters with no defining
narrative, but close to the end Hayek’s Ajak says, “This world has
changed us. We must protect it.”
The footage is certainly different from any other MCU movie we have seen
before. Jack Kirby fans will be pleased. The CCXP crowd certainly was
as you could feel the chills and excitement reverberate throughout the
room and as soon as the title card
The Eternals was shown at the end of the footage, the audience cheered with the force of a football stadium.
And if you’re looking for the footage, don’t expect to see any of that soon. Feige said it won’t be released for a while.

During a surprisingly short appearance at Comic Con Experience Brazil, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige presented the first ever public showing of footage from the studio’s upcoming “Eternals.”
The clip, which Feige said contained “raw footage pulled out of camera,” begins with a shot of Richard Madden’s Ikaris walking into the frame. This was followed by a group shot of the entire team, then a close up on Gemma Chan’s Sersi, and a fade in on the film’s logo. Another shot of the cast in their costumes came next, then in succession a shot of Angelina Jolie’s Thena, Salma Hayek’s Ajax on horseback, Kumail Nanjiani’s
Kingo dancing,’ Thena kicking ass, and finally, dialogue by Hayek:
“These people have changed all of us. We must protect them.”
