The untitled feature follows Pitt as a racer who comes out of retirement to mentor a younger driver and take his final stab at glory on the track as the younger driver’s teammate.

Apple landed the package in one of 2022s biggest deals. At the time, sources told Deadline the package was in the $130 million-$140 million range, before above-the-line compensation. That puts it in line with several big package deals made last year, the kind that seem perfectly suited to streamers that need content but are still getting up to speed on the development front.

He looks almost as happy as he did during Bullet Train's European and American premieres.  He was maybe a tad giddier then, but he was on promo while here he is only a guest.






His tall companion/security is "Jerry from Red camera."

The slightly off focus right hand without a ring which at first glance looks like it's Brad's actually belongs to "Jerry, from Red camera" who is mostly hidden behind him in the photo.  In the photos above and below, Jerry's watch can be seen on his bare right forearm and wrist.  Brad's arms are entirely covered by his long green sleeves.

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has revealed that the new Brad Pitt movie based around the championship will start shooting on race weekends in the second half of 2023.

The timing suggests that November’s inaugural Las Vegas GP is likely to play a major role in the storyline.

On Friday Pitt, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and director Joseph Kosinski met with F1 team bosses in Austin to give them some idea of their plans.

The filmmakers stressed that they see their production as the racing equivalent of Bruckheimer’s hugely popular Top Gun: Maverick.






AUSTIN, Texas — The door to Formula One’s hospitality building in the Circuit of the Americas paddock swung open and team principals from various F1 organizations poured out.

Was this the end of some secret meeting about Red Bull’s cost cap violation, which has been a hot topic this weekend? Perhaps a briefing to discuss some key developments in the sport?

Um, no. The team principals were meeting with Academy Award winner Brad Pitt, famed producer Jerry Bruckheimer and “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski about their upcoming F1-themed film.

Pitt, 58, seems to have channeled enough of his inner Benjamin Button to be able to play a veteran F1 driver who comes out of retirement to compete alongside a rookie teammate. Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton is listed as a co-producer of the film, which was acquired by Apple Studios.

The actor spent time observing activity in the Mercedes and McLaren garages and then wore a photo vest for the second practice session, watching the cars scream by from the pit wall.

Kosinski is said to be keen on replicating the “Top Gun” experience, which used real aircraft to provide a sense of authenticity. Don’t be surprised to see filming take place with actual F1 cars on some Grand Prix weekends in the near future.

Hollywood can’t get enough of fast cars.

A bidding war erupted Friday for a racing project featuring bold-faced names that has studios and streamers burning rubber to get their gloves on it.

The untitled project has Brad Pitt attached to star and Joseph Kosinski, the filmmaker behind the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick, attached to direct.

Veteran mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer and screenwriter Ehren Kruger, who worked with Kosinski on Maverick, are also part of the blockbuster pitch package.

According to sources, offers have been coming in from studios Paramount, MGM, Sony and Universal as well as streamers Netflix, Apple and Amazon. Even Disney, which normally sits out these kinds of races, is on the course for this one.

The story or take isn’t clear but sources say that Lewis Hamilton, the British modern racing legend, is also involved with the project.

Pitt and Kosinski have long tried to make a racing movie. In 2013, Pitt circled Go Like Hell, which had Kosinski attached along with Tom Cruise. That project eventually morphed into Ford v. Ferrari with a whole new actor and director combination.

Hollywood has always maintained a fascination for cars barreling down the tracks, with the sport having visual appeal, high stakes drama and both hot-headed and cold-blooded personalities.

The sport attracts Hollywood players, perhaps best embodied by Steve McQueen. And while some movies don’t take — Ron Howard’s well-regarded Rush didn’t find an audience — when they do, as in the case of 2019’s Ford v Ferrari, one gets box office and Oscar gold.
