According to Pitt, he’s written those speeches himself — mostly. However, on the red carpet before the Oscars ceremony, Pitt told Variety‘s Marc Malkin that he had some “very, very funny friends” helped him “with some laughs.”
Those “funny friends” include to comedians like Jim Jefferies and Bob Oschack, and perhaps most surprisingly, his “Fight Club” director David Fincher, to help him write his comedy.
“My man Fincher, we trade barbs every week,” Pitt said.

The road to the “Best Oscar dress of all time” (see stories) • After showing at NYFW we got a call from @stylistjenrade . • She called in 3 dresses and said Angelina was presenting at the Oscars. • A week later Jen called to say Angelina was down to 2 options, one was ours and one was a gorgeous tuxedo from another major designer. • Jen asked if we would be in LA to fit her. We hadn’t planned to, but said we would come out to fit her. She replied, “Angelina would not want the pressure of knowing you came out for her, in case she didn’t wear it.” After 20 minutes of @paulmargolin and I staring at each other, we called back and said “we will be out there”. After maxing out a credit card for first class tickets (no one is flying coach to fit Angelina Jolie for the Oscars) we were on our way. • Our first fitting with her was at her home while she was filming “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” with Brad Pitt. She walked in and she was breathtaking, Paul would later say in the car, “if I were Jennifer Aniston, I’d be worried”. • Afterwards, our seamstress took the dress with her, we thought her life was at risk with all the PR teams trying to get a dress on Angelina. • Now every major designer knows she is attending and is knocking at her door. Angelina did not entertain any of it, except for one designer’s fitting, for which we waited hidden on the street till they finished. • At the final fitting Angelina had on the dress and @hsternofficial $10 million necklace. Looking regal she turns around from the mirror and asks, “is this it, are we done?” It took a minute to realize she was committing to the dress, but when it hit us, we shook our heads yes, and everyone in the room said “yes!” It was all punctuated with the 6’4” security guard hugging us and saying, “I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS!” • Back in NY we are watching E!, and Angelina never shows up. Averting a heart attack, we get a call saying Angelina is in the car! • Disappointed she wasn’t on E!, we watch the final countdown on ABC. At 11:47 minutes on the countdown Angelina is the last to show up! She’s on 30 seconds and says, “IT’S MARC BOUWER!”
