After seven high-profile years and six children with Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt made things official at last when confirming his engagement to the actress Friday.

Though they've at times waffled over the idea of marriage -- and publicly said they wouldn't tie the knot until gay marriage is legal across the U.S. -- Pitt, 48, and Jolie, 36, decided to get hitched at the urging of their kids: Maddox, 10, Pax, 8, Zahara, 7, Shiloh, 5, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 3.

"We'd actually like to [get married]," Pitt -- who went public with his romance with Jolie in 2005 after he divorced Jennifer Aniston -- told The Hollywood Reporter in January. "It seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren't going to do it till everyone can. But I don't think we'll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment."
Indeed, this spring Pitt couldn't hold out any longer -- and proposed
to his longtime love with a massive diamond he personally designed with
the couple's jeweler Robert Procop.

The couple's engagement "is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy," Pitt's manager Cynthia Pett-Dante said in a statement Friday, two days after Jolie flashed her newest accessory during a visit to LACMA with Pitt and Pax.

Jacob & Co Offers Engagement Ring Almost Identical to Angelina Jolie's
For just $530,000, you can get a table cut diamond ring like the one Brad Pitt designed for Jolie. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with a proposal from Pitt.
By now it's safe to say that the entire civilized world has seen Angelina Jolie’s engagement ring.
Created by LA jeweler Robert Procop to Brad Pitt’s specifications, the ring is a table cut diamond surrounded by other smaller diamonds to perfectly circle her finger.

"Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration," Procop told THR. "He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina's hand. Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution.
There's no question that the Angelina ring will be knocked off, copied and sold in mass market jewelry stores at a more affordable price.
But according to Monique Manasas, style spokesman for luxury jewelry company Jacob & Co, they already have a ring in their current engagement ring collection that is almost identical to Jolie's diamond stunner.
Jacob and Co also has quite a celebrity following, including Milla Jovovich, Katy Perry, David and Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lawrence, Madonna, George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, and Halle Berry.
"Angelina’s ring is very beautiful, says Manasas. "And the one that we have at Jacob & Co stacks up perfectly next to the Procop ring." The Jacob & Co design is 6.79 carats and Angelina’s is 7 carats. Jacob & Co’s costs $530,000.
Jacob & Co’s ring is also a table cut (the surface is cut flat like a table), which was the precursor to the longer emerald cut. "It’s not as common a cut these days," says Manasas. "But now that Angelina is wearing it, many people will probably be asking for a similar cut."

Because the design is part of Jacob and Co’s current collection, if you wanted to buy it tomorrow, you could. “We would have to customize it, but it's very accessible."
The only thing they can't provide? Brad Pitt to gently, lovingly slide their exquisite ring on your trembling finger. Unfortunately, that's the part we'd call 'priceless.'

Here comes the bride-to-be's replica ring!Just a week after Angelina Jolie's emerald-cut engagement rocks made their debut, the requisite knockoff has arrived.
Online jeweler Gemvara is hawking the Evelyn, a rock crystal and sterling silver bauble that's "reminiscent of Angelina Jolie's" diamond ring, according to the website, but without the rumored six-figure price tag: Evelyn costs only $1,195.
Even without Brad Pitt's fingerprints on it, the piece, Gemvara says, "possesses a coveted elegance."
