On her recent trip to New Orleans, Ellen met up with her friend Brad Pitt to tour the 9th Ward. After Hurricane Katrina, the 9th Ward was devastated. Brad's organization, "Make It Right," has done incredible work to rebuild, and Ellen was thrilled to see the progress.

Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy is quickly becoming an A-lister -- but that doesn't mean she didn't completely freak out chatting with Hollywood's most famous couple and its most celebrated actress.

On Thursday's episode of Ellen, the Bridesmaids actress, 41, recounted to Ellen DeGeneres and Jimmy Kimmel what it was like chatting (alongside husband and Bridesmaids costar Ben Falcone) with superstars at the Golden Globes two weekends ago.
"So I'm already in some weird altered state talking to Brad and Angelina. They're so nice and chatty and really bubbly," McCarthy says of hobnobbing with Pitt, 48, and Jolie, 36.

"Finally, I got a little weird and 'I was like you have to stop for a minute because it's a lot visually to take in.'"
Wait, really? "I said that to them. They just kind of laughed. I said, 'No really.' It is a lot visually to take in. She's like weirdly glowing. She’s so beautiful. He's kind of cute too. And then I was like 'Ok. I'm sorry. I needed to like regroup' because they're kind of a lot."

McCarthy's star-struck moment didn't end there -- because Meryl Streep then introduced herself to the foursome!
"Literally like my brain snapped in two," McCarthy said of meeting the legendary Iron Lady star. "And then I really didn't know what to say. I just kept going 'Oh, my god. You're Meryl Streep.' And she was chatting like a normal human being. And I said, 'Oh my god. I'm sorry. I thought over the years so many things if I ever got to meet you what I would say. This is not it.' And, she goes 'Oh my god. Don't even worry about it.'"
Added the Best Supporting Actress nominee: "For some reason I felt I need to bookend it with and repeat. 'Oh my god. You're Meryl Streep!'"

Ellen DeGeneres Buys Brad Pitt's Malibu Home for $12 Million

Getty (2)It is official: Ellen DeGeneres is the proud owner of a new home. The former home of a very A-list actor.
Transactions were completed Friday to finalize the purchase of Brad Pitt's Malibu manse for $12 million, PEOPLE has learned.
The property overlooks the Pacific Ocean, has private beach access, consists of two separate houses, a pool, a tennis court and lush gardens.
DeGeneres's interest in the estate was first buzzed about around Thanksgiving, a month after she and wife Portia De Rossi put their Architectural Digest-featured home on the market for $49 million.
The couple will be downsizing a bit: From about 15,000-square feet of interior space to 4,000. Sounds cozy! – Gail Nussbaum

Brad on Ellen, Moviefone
"Moneyball," the new Brad Pitt movie about how Oakland As manager Billy Beane revolutionized the game of baseball, hits movie theaters in just a couple days. Pitt stops by "Ellen" Wednesday to talk about his new movie, plus his family with Angelina Jolie. Ellen also gives the whole Jolie-Pitt clan a present (above).Brad on mornings at his house with his kids:
Ellen: "I have a niece who is 2 ... 2 1/2 .... She's precious and I love her like crazy. The energy with one child that I visit occasionally ... I really don't understand. You have six of them."
Brad: "Yeah, did you ever see the movie 'Cuckoo's Nest?'"
Ellen: "Is that what the house is like?
Brad: "That's morning time in our house. ... Cheswick screaming for a cigarette, someone's doing ballet over there and on it goes.
Ellen: "Portia and I have been together for six years and you and Angie have been together about the same amount of time. I just think wow, Maddox and Pax and Zahara and Buff and Hensman and ...Tito. There is so many of them. I don't know how you balance? There's got to be one really, really well behaved one. Who's your favorite?
Brad: [laughing]...How do I get out of this one?
Brad on finding "Mommy/Daddy" time"
Ellen: "So you're traveling a lot. You have the kids. You have a career and Angie has a career. How do you have time to keep, to have the romance. Have alone time.
Do you just sometimes say, we will be back in a month? Just leave them at home?"
Brad: "We find our time. We carve out Mommy, Daddy time... It's called a hotel."
Ellen: "That's what I'm getting at."
Brad: "You got to get out of this house. You got to leave."
Brad on marriage
Ellen: "When people ask you and Angie if you're getting married you've said that, well I'll let you say it."
Brad: "I've said that we would not be getting married until everyone in this county has the right to get married"
Ellen: "I love that."
Brad: "We live in this great country that is about freedom. It is defined by our freedom and equality and yet we allow this discrimination to go on everyday and that's not what we're about. That's not what makes us great. Until that is reversed. I just don't get it. "It'a make'a no sense to me." [in a Italian accent]
Ellen: "Thank you. So that means if like, next week if it's legal for everyone to get married that you would then be getting married the very next day. It seems."
Brad: "It seems."
Ellen: "Doesn't that seem like the right thing?
Brad: "I do. The kids are putting on the heat. They really are. They are putting on the heat."
Ellen: "You'll still hold out?"
Brad: "How do you I get it out this one? Somebody help me. I don't know what the future holds..."
