Those Who Wish Me Dead was loved by readers much more than The Kept.  The genre thriller is right in Sheridan's wheelhouse.  His record as a writer-director is much more impressive that Neil Burger's who is attached to Shoot Like A Girl.  Producer Steve Zaillian did rewrites on Salt.  A very strong, proven team.


Jolie would star while Sheridan, who wrote the script, will direct, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Bron Studios, which was involved in recent movies such as The Mule, Assassination Nation and A Simple Favor, are producing. Also producing are Steven Zaillian (Moneyball, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and Garrett Basch via their Film Rites banner.
The project adapts a book by Michael Koryta but sources say the feature will veer away from certain points. The book told of a teen in a witness protection program hiding out from a pair of killers in a wilderness skills program while a fire engulfs Montana.
Sheridan’s script is described as being female-driven (the book’s female lead ran a fire lookout tower before being swept into the teen’s troubled life) and a by the seat of your pants chase movie.
Sheridan was an actor who segued to writing, making a name for himself by writing acclaimed gritty thrillers such as Sicario and Hell or High Water. He made his directorial debut with Wind River, a thriller that starred Jeremy Renner.
He also created the Kevin Costner drama Yellowstone. The plan for Sheridan is to shoot Wish Me Dead after wrapping up the second season of the Paramount Network show.
Sheridan was gearing up to shoot a black ops thriller titled F.A.S.T. that was to have starred Chris Pratt and to have gone into production this summer but switched gears last minute. It is unclear what happens to F.A.S.T. now.
Jolie, who has not appeared on the big-screen since 2015’s By the Sea, next stars in Maleficent 2, which Disney releases in 2020.


Angelina Jolie has come on board to star in the chase thriller “Those Who Wish Me Dead” with Taylor Sheridan directing from his own script.
Bron Studios and Film Rites are producing and Creative Wealth Media is financing. Sheridan is adapting the script from Michael Koryta’s 2014 novel of the same name, which follows a 14-year-old boy who witnesses a brutal murder, is issued a false identity and hidden in a wilderness skills program for troubled teens while the killers are slaughtering anyone who gets in their way in a methodical quest to reach him.
Plot details and Jolie’s character are under wraps. The story is set against a wildfire in the Montana wilderness.
Producers are Garrett Basch and Steve Zaillian of Film Rites and Bron Studios’ Aaron L. Gilbert. Creative Wealth Media’s Jason Cloth is the executive producer.

Producers plan to shoot in May, after Sheridan completes the second season of his Kevin Costner series “Yellowstone.” Sheridan received an Academy Award nomination in the original screenplay category for “Hell or High Water.” He has writing credits on “Sicario” and the sequel “Sicario: Day of the Soldado,” and wrote and directed “Wind River,” for which he received a nomination from the Directors Guild of America Award for First-Time Feature Film Director.
Jolie was last seen in “By the Sea,” which she also directed. She’s starring in “Maleficent II,” which is set for May 29, 2020. Jolie is repped by UTA; Sheridan is CAA and Elevate Entertainment. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
