Brad wasn't mentioned in the initial reports on Sean Penn's Haiti fundraiser.  He may have come in late with someone who looks like Spike Jonze.  With his new beard, he looks like he stepped off the set of Babel.

He put in a couple of bids to watch an episode of GoT with the Mother of Dragons and the King of the North.  Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington may have been rooting for him to win -- assuming he intended to watch it himself.

Angelina mentioned that she is a Walking Dead fan and Brad obviously likes zombies with his biggest hit, WWZ, which now has a sequel coming up.  Loung Ung also loves zombies and she could give him new story ideas since she is currently working on a "zombies and vampires Buddhist mythology."

I haven't read either Angelina or Brad mention that they are Game of Thrones fans.  But David Scarpa's description of his take on Cleopatra as "dirty, bloody, lots of people swearing and having sex" sounds like what goes on in much of GoT.  You could describe GoT as Cleopatra with dragons and zombies.  It would not be a stretch to imagine both as fans of the show which has won tons of awards.

One other interesting connection: the director of Angelina's upcoming live action/animated The One and Only Ivan, Thea Sharrock, is a theater director with just one previous feature film -- Me Before You starring Emilia Clarke.

All the attention has been on his losing GoT bid but what he did win is probably more interesting to the basketball fans in the family -- an "exclusive experience with the San Antonio Spurs."

All the "casually dating" tabloid talk apparently emboldened women to throw themselves at Brad.  He otherwise successfully kept himself surrounded by Bryan Lourd, Sean Penn, Spike Jonze, and someone who looks like Jeff Bezos.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Sean Penn and Leonardo DiCaprio used the eighth annual benefit for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization to publicly praise each other's philanthropic work.
  
DiCaprio was the guest of honor at the $5,000-a-plate dinner Saturday night at Milk Studios, which raised nearly $4 million for Penn's Haitian Relief Organization and its nonprofit partners.
  
DiCaprio was recognized for 20 years of supporting environmental causes through his namesake foundation.
  
Penn said DiCaprio's work motivated him to start his own charitable organization after the devastating earthquake in 2010 that left thousands of Haitians homeless and without basic resources.
  
"As much as anyone, the inspiration for me was from Leo DiCaprio," Penn said. "Here was this young guy who had not only continued to create so productively but had also created what takes a kind of Herculean effort."
  
Penn praised DiCaprio's personal commitment to protecting wildlife and advocating for the planet, as well as the actor's general optimism.
  
"That's why he deserves to be honored and that's why we dragged him down here to be honored," Penn said. "Who else do you know who's doing what you're doing around this town?"
  
DiCaprio returned the praise as he accepted his award, calling Penn an inspiration and a role model.
  
DiCaprio also supported Penn's cause by bidding $80,000 on a painting during a live auction at the gala. "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke had her eye on the same piece and ultimately outbid the Oscar winner before the artist who made the painting revealed two copies were available. Clarke and DiCaprio each got their own for $80,000 each.
  
Brad Pitt got in on the auction as well. He bid $60,000 on a painting, but Arnold Schwarzenegger outdid him and won with $70,000. Pitt was successful on another lot, though: an exclusive experience with the San Antonio Spurs, which he snapped up for $40,000.
  
Other items up for auction included a private dinner with chef Jose Andres and Anderson Cooper, which sold for $50,000, and a "Game of Thrones" viewing party with Clarke, which went for $160,000. (Pitt bid twice on that one but didn't prevail.)
  
The most expensive item auctioned was a painting by Urs Fisher that sold for $1.5 million.
  
Penn has hosted a fundraiser for J/P HRO on the eve of the Golden Globes since he established the charity in 2010. Saturday's guests included Globes nominee and presenter Susan Sarandon, along with Garcelle Beauvais, Tobey Maguire, Patricia Arquette, Kit Harrington, Beck, Lena Dunham and Allison Williams.
  
The event featured an update on J/P HRO's work - which has expanded with new partnerships that helped provide hurricane relief in Puerto Rico, Texas, Florida and the Virgin Islands - and several performances. Celebrated ballerinas Sergei Polunin and Natalia Osipova performed solos, actress and dancer Sofia Boutella did a routine directed by Madonna, and singer-songwriter James Taylor closed the evening with a nine-song set.
  



Brad Pitt shows $40K worth of love for the Spurs

Apparently Brad Pitt is a big Spurs fan.
Though he has never been seen at any games at the AT&T Center, nor have any tweets or social media posts of him boosting for the team have been found, he is enough of a fan to have spent $40,000 dollars at a recent auction for an exclusive experience with the San Antonio Spurs.
The Associated Press reports Pitt was one of many celebrities at an annual benefit for Sean Penn's Haitian Relief Organization Saturday in Los Angeles.
The $15,000-a-plate dinner benefit featured an auction, which included the Spurs package.
The report notes that Pitt was outbid on a $70,000 painting to Arnold Schwarzenegger before winning the experience with the Spurs. It did not mention who else bid on the Spurs. Pitt also tried to win a private "Game of Thrones" viewing party with Emilia Clarke that eventually went for $160,000.
The story did not describe what that "exclusive experience" with the Spurs includes or where and when it will be.
The most expensive item of the night was a painting by Urs Fisher that went for $1.5 million, according to the AP.

Winter is officially here for Brad Pitt.
Pitt offered to pay $120,000 to watch an episode of “Game of Thrones” with Emilia Clarke — but he was outbid.
Pitt bid six figures to watch a “Game of Thrones” episode with Clarke on Saturday night during a silent auction at Sean Penn’s annual gala for Haiti, held at Milk Studios in Los Angeles, California.
During the charity gala, the auctioneer announced the opportunity to watch an episode with Clarke, who was in attendance at the A-list event, along with her “Game of Thrones” co-star Kit Harington, though the cast members were seated at separate tables.
The auction to watch the episode with Clarke started at $20,000, but the race quickly escalated. At one point, the auctioneer yelled out “Is the King of the North here?!” But as it turned out, Harington had stepped out of the gala to go to the restroom.
Meanwhile, Pitt bid $80,000 to watch an episode of “GOT” with Clarke. Then he outbid himself to $90,000. When Harington came back into the room, the actor offered to also sit in on the episode viewing. And that’s when Pitt raised his own bid to $120,000.
In the end, Pitt was outbid by a gala-goer who ended the auction at $160,000.
The charity event to benefit the J/P HRO & Disaster Relief Organizations, hosted by Penn, CAA’s Bryan Lourd and Sean and Alexandra Parker, honored Leonardo DiCaprio for his work combating climate change.
Later during the auction, DiCaprio bid $80,000 on a painting by artist Josh Smith, but was outbid by Clarke herself for $90,000 — but, there was a second Smith painting available, so in the end, both DiCaprio and Clarke ended up walking away with artwork.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Courtney Love Tip Sean Penn’s Haiti Rising Gala to Record $37 Million

UPDATED: Sean Penn was every bit the formidable champion of human rights and social action Saturday night at the Haiti Rising Gala benefiting J/P Haitian Relief Organization held at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills.
“Come on, man, these people are dying over here,” said Penn, a cigarette tucked behind his ear, appealing to the ballroom filled with movie stars and business entrepreneurs bidding on luxury auction prizes. “We need your help.”
In addition to Penn, the event was co-hosted by Bryan Lourd and Sean and Alexandra Parker, and presented by Lynne and Marc Benioff. Also in the crowd were Pamela Anderson, Jeffrey Tambor, Ed Norton, Nick Jonas, Patricia Arquette, Leonardo DiCaprio (who donated $125,000 dollars in exchange for custom artwork by Ed Ruscha), and Courtney Love, who bid $50,000 for Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour dress.
A record $37 million was committed to J/P HRO and their initiatives in Haiti, which included contributions from the Government of France, The Parker Foundation, and World Bank, along with proceeds from the live auction.
Paul Farmer, founding director and chief strategist of Partners in Health, was honored with the Garry Shandling Humanitarian Award, named for the legendary comedian who, upon his recent death, left $1 million to J/P HRO.
Bill Maher emceed the fundraiser, praising Penn as “truly a man of action, whether you need someone to show up with a rowboat in a flood or interview El Chapo.”
Founded by Penn in the wake of the 2010 earthquake that ravaged Haiti, J/P HRO has worked to provide emergency medical care, food and shelter, and other essential aid to the Caribbean nation, which suffered another devastating blow in 2016 when Hurricane Matthew pummeled the southern half of the country. What began as 30 Americans has since grown to a full-time staff of 130 Haitians working tirelessly to restore what was ruined, as well as build toward a brighter, stronger tomorrow, which includes the implementation of a large-scale reforestation project.

Sean Penn and celebrity friends help raise a record $37 million for Haitian relief efforts

Sean Penn had no intention to rabble-rouse when he took to the stage at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills on Saturday night. Instead, the actor and activist, who has thrown his considerable clout behind the J/P Haitian Relief Organization, quoted Thomas Jefferson, fondly introduced his children Dylan and Hopper, and spoke from his heart at the charity's annual Haiti Rising Gala.
"This is a weird year," said Penn. "I didn't write much of a speech because I didn't know what speech to write. This is post the age of reason. I've never lived here."
Founded in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake, J/P HRO has gone from 30 Americans on the ground to 160 Haitians running the operation today. They were were able to kick into action when Hurricane Matthew struck last year.
 On a jam-packed Golden Globes weekend, the event —  at which tables cost up to $100,000 —  drew the likes   of Jeremy Renner, Jason Segel, Ed Norton, Connie Britton and Nick Jonas. The scene at the sixth event included Leonardo DiCaprio bidding $100,000 for a 1967 Toyota Land Cruiser once owned by Julia Roberts and a surprise performance by Beck, who capped off the night by performing his song  “Where It's At.”
"Tonight is important because it's helping my country," said Haitian native Garcelle Beauvais, who will be in the upcoming movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” as she looked for her table inside the Montage’s ballroom. "The fact that Sean Penn has been this committed for this long is really remarkable. He's stayed true to Haiti."
Master of ceremonies Bill Maher joked about Penn's apparent ubiquity when there is a disaster.
"He truly is a man of action," said Maher. "When you need someone to show up in a rowboat when there's a flood, or interview El Chapo … He went to Damascus last year. Syria. Even Mormon missionaries won't go to Syria."
Actor Rainn Wilson and his wife went to Haiti immediately after the earthquake, stayed in tents and did art workshops with young girls.
"We fell in love with the organization," he said. "There's a giant chunk of Port-au-Prince that they have utterly transformed."
