British actor Sam Riley recruited his Maleficent co-star Angelina Jolie to help make his grandfather's 90th birthday extra special by having the beauty sign a card for him.

The On the Road star's shooting schedule for the film was rearranged so he was able to return home with the special note from the actress.

Riley says, "She signed him a birthday card, which is pride of place in the kitchen. He shows it to everybody who comes around."

His grandfather wasn't the only member of the Riley family Jolie impressed - she also made time to speak to her co-star's parents when they came to visit the set.

He continues, "When my mom and dad came to visit she was so lovely with them that they floated back home. They're still telling everyone."
