Angelina Jolie says that she is watching the 2012 Republican presidential race with fascination, and believes it to be good television. Jolie, who was on hand to accept a Producers' Guild award for her film about the Serbian war, "In the Land of Blood and Honey," says that she has tried to take it seriously as a citizen, but can't help thinking of the potential nominees as "characters." "There's that part of us that's wanting to learn about what's going on, and wanting to see who could possibly be the next president, and take that very seriously, which it is, and there's this other part of it that is this strange television, and these characters that we're watching," says Jolie. "It goes into the bizarre." Jolie who spoke Saturday (January 21), the same night of Newt Gingrich's surprise win over Mitt Romney in the South Carolina Republican primary. The Gingrich upset has upended the Republican race as the party picks its opponent to president Barack Obama in the 2012 election.

LOS ANGELES — They're
arguably Hollywood's highest-profile couple, so it's only natural that
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would privately discuss the art and
business of filmmaking. According to Pitt, they don't always agree.
Speaking with Reuters at Saturday's Producers Guild Awards in Beverly
Hills, Pitt said that he and Jolie, who are each busy on both sides of
the camera as well as raising six children together, will talk shop at
the end of a long day.Story: Jon Voight: Hollywood should fear Jolie-Pitt kids "Usually we argue shop every now and then," Pitt said, noting that they tend to differ in their approach. "She's much more decisive, she's much more quick. I've got to see everything. I've got to shop the entire eBay to know exactly what I want and what I need."
When he's stumped, Pitt said, "I'll always go to her and talk it out."
Story: Five biggest jaw-droppers of the Globes Jolie, who received the guild's Stanley Kramer Award for her directorial debut, "In the Land of Blood and Honey," said Pitt's role as a producer calls for different skills. He produced and starred in "Moneyball," one of the 10 films nominated for the Producers Guild's top prize.
"I had to direct, I think it's different. I think he'd execute properly if he was the director," Jolie said. "But I do like to think of myself as decisive, so I'll take that."

It was simply to say, 'We must talk about what happened, we must try to learn from what happened, we must try to see humanity on all sides,' and if we can, then we can start to move forward."
On the other hand, Jolie admitted that she was "fascinated" by a political matter somewhat closer to home: the Republican presidential race.

"Emotionally it's hard to be an actor in some ways, but it is really much harder, I found, to be a producer and director and writer," Angelina disclosed to ET's Christina McLarty at the Producer's Guild Awards in Beverly Hills on Saturday. "You feel the responsibility of everybody involved much more."
Brad Pitt accompanied Angelina to the show, sans his cane, gushing about his lady's exceptional work ethic and his film. "This one (Moneyball) almost died on the vine so many times," said Brad. "I'm really happy to see it get this kind of acclaim."
CBS Corp. president and CEO Les Moonves was honored with the 2012 Milestone Award, which was presented to him by an old friend -- George Clooney. Moonves explained his connection to The Descendants star, saying, "I'm the one that sent him the script for a little show called E.R., and I said, 'I think you should do this thing.' ... And we've remained very close friends all these years."
Accepting the Producers Guild’s David O. Selznick Career Achievement Award last night, Steven Spielberg said about the people who stitched this video together: “I think we should have them working for us.”
