Given everything so far, including the fact that FTKMF is presented FYC to the guilds as 'A Film By Angelina Jolie-Pitt' -- when the same banner read 'A Film By Angelina Jolie' in January -- it appears they hoped to make their reappearance as Mr. and Mrs. Pitt (or Mr. and Mrs. Jolie-Pitt) during the awards season. Oscar nominations are announced January 23, and voting ends Feb 27. Even if FTKMF doesn't score a nod, The Breadwinner almost certainly will.
If she wants to further show her appreciation to the HFPA for nominating FTKMF, they could go public on or before January 7 in time for the Golden Globes. It will be a sudden shock and they will cause a near riot, but Globes security is capably very tight. It would make the HFPA very happy.
Although FTKMF failed to make the cut with the Oscars Foreign Language committee, it could still score a BAFTA nod for Best Film not in the English language. Voting for BAFTA nominations opened on Dec. 15 and the nominees will be announced Jan. 9.
After they were engaged, there was what seemed like an interminable wait for them to get married. It was only recently that we learned that the delay was likely caused by construction delays in Miraval.
Whatever held them up this time, it would have been similarly outside their control despite their best efforts. They must all be very eager to break free of the restrictions on what they can say and do in public. Just before they left for Telluride, in an interview with the NY Times, she still spoke very cautiously.
I asked how everyone is doing now.
“None of it’s easy. It’s very, very difficult, a very painful situation, and I just want my family healthy,” she said quietly.
Are they? “They’re getting better,” she said, her voice approaching inaudibility.
The new quotes they released to People for an article that was mainly intended to be about the children were revelatory. They volunteered this info. It contrasts with past statements wherein they were only willing to say they were on the path to recovery.
Angelina is busy with everything she is doing, including being a super mom to her kids. But she is doing fine and working with Brad on ways to continue their lives so everyone is happy. The process has been difficult (for him). But he is OK and remains committed to his family."They went from:
"We've been able to work together to sort this out. We're both doing our best"
"We are both working towards the same goal"
She is doing fine and working with Brad to continue their lives so everyone is happy."
Before it was:
"We will be stronger when we come out of this because that's what we're determined to do as a family."
"I have been having moments of joy...just glimpse moments of joy because I know I'm just in the middle of this thing now"
"They’re getting better,"
He is OK, she is doing fine, everyone is happy.
Their year-long break from work means they both don't have films to promote in 2018. That in turn means no in-depth interviews until just before Ad Astra is released in early 2019.
"We care for each other and care about our family."
"It was a message to each other of we are going to weather whatever comes and we are going to stick together."
"We are and forever will be a family."
Showing up to moderate a Q&A with Angelina Jolie dressed for a late night out and Angelina ready for a red carpet. Then interviewing Angelina Jolie for the LAT/@envelope (it’s my fourth time, no she did not remember me).https://t.co/PpWQ82NqsG— GregoryEllwood - 4 Quadrant on iTunes (@TheGregoryE) December 31, 2017
