Random Fuzzy

They've worked on their legal path back, and now they're working on their public path back.  It was Angelina's turn to speak first when she did some press for FTKMF and Mon Guerlain.  Recall her refrain was: "We are, always and forever will be a family" and "We will get through this stronger and closer."

Now apparently it's Brad's turn -- albeit indirectly through "sources" since he has no press commitments.

Yesterday's chapter of his story was: "He spends all night working on his art and listening to emotional songs...He'd rather do that and be constructive than go out partying....he has cut out most of his bad habits."  While the photos were undated in the original post, Daily Mail now writes: "On March 13 he looked healthy as he headed into a studio alone."

Today's chapter of his story is: “He’s much happier...It was a rough time, but they were able to resolve it.  This is a work in progress...He’s always been extremely positive about how Angie’s a good mother, and the goal was to resolve everything for the kids and the whole family, and they’re working toward that...He is spending more time with the kids... He has even spent some time with Maddox and Pax."

Since People's story broke, other sites have scrambled to come up with quotes from their own "sources," but the quotes in People are likely the ones they authorized.  Mary Green, their principal and long-time People contact, co-wrote the story in the print edition.  They've also had recent contact with ET which had the same story and quotes as People.  Both sites previously had near identical reports on Angelina's meeting with the Archbishop of Canterbury.  ET also had the same story and photos that Daily Mail had on Brad's new passion for sculpting with the same details on his sad playlist.   The stories are obviously planned, planted and scripted.

Their public story still has some way to go before it catches up with current reality.  We know the whole family is already back together in their Hollywood Hills home and they've been reunited for some time.  ET evidently wasn't aware that People was given the same story because they touted their report as an Exclusive.  Perhaps to assuage their feelings, they were given additional quotes from a source close to Jolie who said, "They had already been talking directly to each other way before this anyways." The source also said, "They have both put the media drama behind them" -- because most of the drama was just in the media and not actually between them and they likely didn't read any of it.

It seems they're carefully pacing the story and the public's expectations.  Angelina is widely regarded as a master media strategist.  Their purpose is to lay the groundwork without having people get ahead of the story as they wish it to unfold.  "This is a work in progress. The goal was to resolve everything for the kids and the whole family, and they’re working toward that."  They want people to know there will be further progress but they don't want it to appear as a foregone conclusion.  There could be a highly valued exclusive interview when they are ready.

Statements made by their "sources" often don't stand to close scrutiny and are quickly forgotten.  They will give the full, true story when they sit down for in-depth interviews.  Brad will almost certainly sit for interviews before War Machine's May release.

War Machine reportedly could debut in Cannes which, among other things, would mean a freewheeling press conference.  And a red carpet.

Putting related quotes together:

"He’s very relieved that things are not playing out in public anymore... The divorce proceedings are moving forward privately....They have both put the media drama behind them."
"It was a rough time, but they were able to resolve it.  This is a work in progress... the goal was to resolve everything for the kids and the whole family, and they’re working toward that."
“He’s much happier."
"He is spending more time with the kids when they are in L.A.  He has even spent some time with Maddox and Pax.   Things are definitely calming down.  Occasionally he still gets a bit down.  He went from having quite the chaotic, full house to a very quiet house.  Waking up with the kids every morning seemed to make him very happy.... he loves being a dad.  He's in better spirits"
The (Jolie) source reiterated what Jolie said about Pitt  -- that he is a good father to their six children and that they will always be a family.
"He’s always been extremely positive about how Angie’s a good mother."
"Brad is doing his thing and Angie is doing hers... After months in seclusion with the kids, Jolie is back at work.... Angelina launched her Netflix movie [First They Killed my Father] and that was a success," the source continued. "She gave her lecture at the London School of Economics Centre for Women, Peace and Security, and that went really well. She will begin teaching a course there in September and will be traveling back and forth between the States and London while teaching the course, she is not moving to London full time."
Brad meanwhile has been typically driving himself or riding one of his motorbikes over to the Los Angeles studio owned by Thomas late in the morning to start work on his project... "People close to him are happy that he has found something new to be passionate about."  The actor usually spends the day with Houseago and his team of assistants, but stays behind at night to work on his piece, says the eyewitness, who adds that Pitt often listens to sad songs... Thomas – who lives in the same exclusive compound - went on to explain the 'infinite magic of art': 'When you have that trauma and have that anxiety, you have that push it gets you off planet earth, and through the atmosphere really fast.'....The pair have been friends for some time..."He often has friends over, old friends are back in his life, and he seems happy about it.......Brad is lying low and concentrating on his work"
Pitt "looks great" and has been working out regularly.  "He's lost a few pounds.  He's in very good shape."  Although he has cut out most of his bad habits, Brad is still big on vaping.
As for Pitt's recent foray into sculpting the source says his new hobby doesn't mean he's stepping away from acting. "No. No. No," the source declared. "He just produced the Oscar-winning Best Picture, Moonlight.  He is involved in a lot of producing, nonprofit events, and staying involved in War Machine."
As for reports stating that Pitt and Jolie have spoken directly? The source tells ET, "They had already been talking directly to each other way before this anyways."

Additional brief observations:

- In People's print version: The two have even talked to each other directly and Pitt knew in advance that Jolie planned to take their kids on her recent work trips to Cambodia and Europe.  --  He knew they were traveling but he didn't need to give his consent for them to travel.  This seems to confirm that they did in fact set aside the ATRO over the kids' out-of-state travel last December.  It was likely the document Angelina's lawyers lodged on Dec. 22.

-  They made a point to say that Angelina's trips were work trips.

-  Before the Sept. incident, she would normally only bring 1 or 2 kids with her on her work trips when she has a very busy schedule.  But evidently none of the kids wanted to be left behind with Brad for a week even with their cousins in town.  From all appearances, their family life is back to normal and they're inviting over and entertaining guests in their home in Hollywood Hills  -- but Angelina's presence is still key.  The children are not yet comfortable being left in their father's care if their mother is out of town.  The Pitt family reunion should help, just as the Christmas and New Year's holidays had greatly helped.

-  They've been buttressing Brad's image as a father in anticipation of the eventual disclosure of some details about what happened before, during and after the plane incident.  The line Brad will apparently use and which Angelina will fully support is: He really loves his kids and he is really a good dad and what happened was aberrant behavior due to bad habits that he has worked to eliminate.  He will also build on his praise of Angelina --"He’s always been extremely positive about how Angie’s a good mother." --  The phrasing is a bit odd but it gives a hint of the superlatives he'll likely use when he starts talking about how she devoted herself to the children and to helping him.

-  I found it curious that they felt the need to qualify that “He is spending more time with the kids when they are in L.A."  It's curious because the kids have been living in L.A. and have only made 3 week-long out-of-town trips since September.  They could have just left it at: "He's spending more time with the kids."  By qualifying, their intent seems to be to discourage the thought that he could be traveling with them.  Because of course he has.  He didn't go with them to Europe because he had family visiting at the same time, but he was with them in Crested Butte and likely Siem Reap as well.

-  He stayed behind when they went to Europe because his family from Missouri were visiting and staying in his home(s).  He presumably spent his days in Houseago's studio when he wasn't entertaining them.

-  Brad was not photographed between Jan. 25 and March 13.  The only sighting we're aware of was in Santa Barbara some time on or before Feb. 7.   People only confirms that he was working on his sculpture in L.A. the morning of the Oscars on Feb. 26 and then just "recently."  So from Feb. 7 to Feb. 26 (and from Feb. 27 to March 13), they want us to know that he has simply been "lying low."

-  "He recently spent many days and even nights working on a sculpture... spending up to 15 hours a day in the studio, until the early hours of the morning."  And he "has been working out regularly."  Sculpting could qualify as a workout, I guess.

Six months since Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s split last September, the two are making peace — and have talked to each other directly, sources tell PEOPLE in the new issue.
“He’s much happier,” a source says. “He’s very relieved that things are not playing out in public anymore.”
After months of heated battles via court papers, Pitt, 53, and Jolie, 41, agreed in January to enlist a private judge to hash out their divorce and custody issues privately, and those negotiations are ongoing.
“It was a rough time, but they were able to resolve it,” adds the source. “This is a work in progress.”
Jolie even recently told ABC she thought Pitt was a “wonderful” father to their six children.
“He’s always been extremely positive about how Angie’s a good mother, and the goal was to resolve everything for the kids and the whole family, and they’re working toward that,” says the source.
Most importantly to Pitt, he’s been able to see his kids more regularly than he did right after the split.
“He is spending more time with the kids when they are in L.A.,” says another Pitt insider. “He has even spent some time with Maddox and Pax. Things are definitely calming down.”

Some added lines from the print version:
The two have even talked to each other directly and Pitt knew in advance that Jolie planned to take their kids on her recent work trips to Cambodia and Europe.
Occasionally he still gets a bit down.  He went from having quite the chaotic, full house to a very quiet house.  Waking up with the kids every morning seemed to make him very happy."
Adds an entertainment industry source: "Brad is lying low and concentrating on his work -- and he loves being a dad. He's in better spirits."
After months in seclusion with the kids, Jolie is back at work.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are making progress.
The former couple has been speaking directly as their divorce has died down in the media, a source tells ET, adding that the couple are focused on doing what's in the best interest of their kids.
According to ET's source, Pitt has been spending more time with the pair's six children -- Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8 -- while they're in Los Angeles, and is feeling happy and relieved that the custody battle has simmered.
"It's still in the process of being resolved," the source tells ET of Pitt's and Jolie's divorce, noting that the two are making progress privately and properly.
Pitt and Jolie also seem to be making progress publicly, as the 41-year-old actress praised Pitt's parenting skills during her appearance on Good Morning America last month, and declared that despite their split, the two will "always be a family."
"Brad knows Angelina is a really good mom," ET's source reveals.
As for Pitt's recent foray into sculpting -- an eyewitness told ET on Tuesday that the Allied star had been working in the studio until early hours of the morning, listening to breakup songs -- the source says his new hobby doesn't mean he's stepping away from acting.
"No. No. No," the source declared. "He just produced the Oscar-winning Best Picture, Moonlight. He is involved in a lot of producing, nonprofit events, and staying involved in War Machine."

ET

It's been four months since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from the Allied star, and despite the breakup, a source close to the 53-year-old actor tells ET that currently, he is not seeing anyone.
The source revealed that Pitt has a lot more downtime now, and has been spending a lot of it with friends, both old and new, many who he's been in touch with throughout the split.
In addition to hanging out with his pals, the source added that Pitt "looks great" and has been working out regularly.
An additional source close to Jolie told ET on Thursday that "Brad is doing his thing and Angie is doing hers. They have both put the media drama behind them and are moving on."
"Angelina launched her Netflix movie [First They Killed my Father] and that was a success," the source continued. "She gave her lecture at the London School of Economics Centre for Women, Peace and Security, and that went really well. She will begin teaching a course there in September and will be traveling back and forth between the States and London while teaching the course, she is not moving to London full time."
The source reiterated what Jolie said about Pitt in her previous interviews for her Netflix film -- that he is a good father to their six children, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8 -- and that they will always be a family.
As for reports stating that Pitt and Jolie have spoken directly? The source tells ET, "They had already been talking directly to each other way before this anyways."
"The divorce proceedings are moving forward privately," the source added.
