Jolie's rep told Us: The job of the DCFS is to make sure the children are in a safe and secure situation. As we said earlier this week, childcare professionals encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides that was in the best interest of the children. Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal."
So she is "relieved that... the DCFS are satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal." Everyone is now satisfied that the children are safe. The children can heal.
So the action she took "for the health of family" is no longer needed.
It's ironic that now its Us that is now posting more balance and better written reports on them than People.
Yesterday ET reported that " our source says that now it's only a matter of getting paperwork in order for the investigation to come to an official close.
And today AP said
"A source familiar with an investigation into whether actor Brad Pitt was abusive toward his son on a private flight in September says the case has been closed with no finding of abuse by the actor.
The source, who was not authorized to speak publicly, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the investigation was closed within the past few days.
DCFS must have informed then over a week ago that they would be closing soon and they wanted to have the legal agreement in place since the therapists didn't think the children were ready to be with Brad. So they knew this was coming. The previous agreement was supposed to end with the investigation.
The legal agreement was never filed with their divorce. The agreement is more important than the divorce.
The statement that was released the other day said:
"We can confirm that childcare professionals have encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides over a week ago. In accordance with this agreement, the six children will stay in their mother's custody, and the children will continue therapeutic visits with their father. This has been determined by childcare professionals to be in the children's best interest."
We are not in a position to discuss the details. We hope now that it is clear that the events which led to the dissolution filing involved minor children and their wellbeing , there will be understanding of the sensitivity of the family situation. We believe that all sides are committed to healing the family and ask for your consideration during this difficult time." It was noted immediately that the statement did mention the DCFS or the investigation at all
Judy Smith later added off-the-record:
“This is what Brad and Angelina have decided between each other for the children,” the source added. “The agreement is also indefinite, so there is no time frame to it, it is in place until they decide to make a change... This is a good sign, it is the first step. This means one issue is now off the table for them.”
Back when Angelina first filed for divorce, she said that the reason she filed was for the safety and health and well-being of the kids and that has been her consistent point of view from the beginning. Nothing has changed.”
Smith is reiterating that the divorce filing was never about any problem in their relationship then or now, it was, and still is, all about the children's "safety, health, and well-being."
The DCFS' closing the investigation is supposed to mean the children are no longer in danger -- and Brad has additionally been "cleared."
I think based on all of the above, she no longer needs the petition.
With the legal agreement and its requirement that Brad continue with therapeutic investigations, they still cannot live together as a family. But instead of a very strict safety plan it will likely simply mean they just can't all live in the same house but without any other restrictions.
Lets look at some questions / scenarios:
Will she stay in Malibu?
Over time Brad should be allowed more frequent visits. Should she move closer to their home?
When will First They Killed My Father be released.
They should both be able to resume work
She worked with Robert Zemeckis on Beowulf and with Graham King on The Tourist and In the Land of Blood and Honey. If the incident hadn't happened she would surely be joining Brad for the premiere.
