I finally found one mention of "reconciliation" in the latest Us Weekly:
"In the beginning, a reconciliation was realistic," says a source. "But her campaign against him was so vicious, the possibility has become more and more remote."
It is so blatantly tabloid trash that it doesn't deserve further comment.
For years they never had publicists but now, faced with this crisis, they both do. So we must remember that every bit of information they release has been vetted and forms part of an overall strategy.
They are mindful of perceptions and expectations.
The latest reports from Us and People painted a bleak picture of healing between father and son -- and by extension, the family as a whole.
But in fact the reports were outdated and misleading.
The TMZ report is meant to set things straight.
"while Brad has had visits with his 5 other kids before Wednesday, the face-to-face with Maddox is a turning point."
They moved quickly to immediately counter the perceptions left by the Us and People reports. They answered less than 24 hours later. They want you to know that contrary to those reports, things are looking up. That in fact, Brad and Maddox could have met earlier. That they've passed a "turning point."
It was important to them that the world know this right away.
Like time is of the essence and they didn't want any delay.
Note also that "sources connected with Angelina" are talking about how Brad is making progress reconciling with his children.
They were careful with the words they chose so if it turns out the way I think it will, they can't be accused of making false or misleading statements.
They said that "she's headed to divorce court" not "headed towards divorce." Two very different meanings.
They said "she still wants their family to function with a fully involved father and mother." their family. Not "she still wants their children to have a fully involved mother and father." Again two very different conclusions. And sole physical custody is apparently no longer necessary.
For Angelina, the use of "family" has been consistent from the start.
To-date, her petition is still pending.
There is no word on whether the DCFS has already ruled that the children are safe.
But the signs seem to indicate that something will be coming down soon. Something they seem eager for.
I don't think any true member of their inner circle is really talking to any of the tabloids. The tabloids may get whiff of something happening but they get it late and they just get the barest details -- probably from people further removed from them. The tabloids then have to work overtime to spin a cover story with quotes from distant or nonexistent friends.
As I noted previously, they like to mix the outrageous with a few reasonable sounding quotes just to keep you wondering if it could be true. So keeping that in mind, this is the last paragraph of the Us article:
After coming out swinging, she's beginning to bend on maintaining sole physical custody, Jolie -- who, sources say, disagreed with Pitt's strict parenting style -- "has had to scale back on her demands," says the friend. A source says the pair haven't hammered out an agreement, "but there have been some constructive conversations." Enough to convince Pitt there could be better days ahead. He's being patient," explains the insider. And he's doing whatever it
I think it's best not believe anything that isn't from "sources connected with Angelina" in TMZ.
Mind you, NOT all the TMZ stories, just the ones written in a more professional style (probably written by Harvey Levin himself) that clearly state they came "sources connected with Angelina".
