Brad Pitt I'm Not Answering Angelina's Divorce

Brad Pitt will not file a legal response to Angelina Jolie's divorce petition because it would set the stage for a nasty legal battle ... and he fears it would cause great psychological damage to their kids.

Brad's legal answer was supposed to be filed Wednesday, but the deadline came and went. Sources close to the case tell us ... Brad wants joint legal and physical custody, but if he actually filed papers it would draw the battle lines. Angelina wants sole physical custody, setting up a possible custody war.

Angelina could set the wheels in motion for a default judgment since Brad hasn't answered her petition, but we're told that is not going to happen. She agrees ... healing the family is the priority, not starting a war.

There's something else here at play. The L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services is still investigating the airplane confrontation between Brad and 15-year-old Maddox, and Brad will be in a much stronger position if DCFS closes the case before he files his answer.

Our sources also say there's a chance the whole divorce case could settle privately without any dueling divorce docs. And, we're told, on that goal both Angelina and Brad agree.

  1. He can't file until the DCFS file is closed because the outcome maybe detrimental to him(hope not).
Also he may never had been served any papers because his address was 'unknown'on the filing.
To my mind Angie filed to make sure she had all her ducks in a row legally and to reduce the risk of the children being removed.
My hope is once Maddox&Brad's relationship is sufficiently repaired,Brad&Angie can address their differences, then their can be a full reconciliation.
    Here's hoping.

  2. This is good news in my mind. Progress towards healing. Hope.

IF, and that's a big IF, its true what the tabs report that A&B haven't spoken directly yet, I could see that as Angie's strategy. She can't move forward until the children, well mostly Maddox, can heal and move forward. She's putting herself last on the healing stage.

Unless there were things building up with her husband that are unknown and can't be overcome...I hope she can heal quickly. As fussy wrote, I too don't believe there were major emotional problems in their relationship. I'm trying to say that I think they love each other while acknowledging his consumption issues must have been a concern that couldn't be managed.

This video was just 2 months before the plane incident. Does this seem like an unhappy couple? I imagine she must yearn for her life again.

  3. This just show me that they want to focus on healing the family first. And that neither one of them really wants a divorce. Specially Brad.

  4. Agree. Also says to me that neither crossed a particular line so reconciliation is not hopeless. Brad knows his wife and knows what she could never forgive. So by stating he will not respond indicates to me he didn't cross that line and wants to try to repair whatever happened. If it was hopeless, I think he would respond, primarily to set the groundwork about custody.

  5. Completely agree with you, Agility. There is still hope of reconciliation on both side.

  6. why does TMZ call it an investigation? I would think the initially interviews with the children and mother = the investigation. they found something was off with Brad and that's why they have them in counseling and Brad was unable to see Maddox for so long.
