Six is enough for now! Despite reports that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are looking to grow their brood once more, the superstar couple don’t have any immediate plans to adopt from Cambodia, a spokesperson for the country's government said on Wednesday, January 13.
“I saw [the news] on Facebook, but actually it’s just a rumor,” Sao Samphois, a spokesperson for the ministry’s Inter-Country Adoption Administration said in a statement to the Phnom Penh Post.
Jolie, 40, visited Cambodia last month, sparking rumors that she and Pitt, 52, are looking to adopt from the country. The Oscar-winning actress adopted eldest son, Maddox, now 14, from the country in 2002.
Samphois pointed out that there are currently no legal ways that the couple could take such an action, however.
“The adoption between the two countries is not yet open,” Samphois added. According to the Phnom Penh Post, America suspended adoptions from Cambodia in the early aughts over “trafficking concerns.”
