Angelina: the trouble with working with Brad

Angelina Jolie has opened up about the difficulties of mixing business with pleasure.

The 40-year-old actress reveals she had to be “very, very careful” directing her husband, Brad Pitt, in the film By the Sea, which she also wrote and co-starred in.
The film is set in the 1970s and follows an American writer Roland (played by Brad) and his wife Vanessa (Angelina) arriving in a French seaside resort in the 1970s, their marriage in crisis.
“These are very sensitive themes so pushing your husband to go to certain places is tricky, especially how much you say because of how much you know,” she divulges.
“There are very few actors that I know their triggers and I know his and I know what he could be thinking about so if anything I had to step away and be respectful.”
The actress, who married Brad, 51, last year after nine years and six children together and is credited onscreen as Angelina Jolie Pitt for the first time in her film career, jokes that it was an odd situation to spend their honeymoon pretending to fight.
“It’s so weird to be in a fight trying to tell him how to fight better with me,” she admits. “First he is shouting at crazy Vanessa, who is so broken, and then when you cut, I am this other person who has all these very strong opinions and is nothing like her so it was schizophrenic for all of us!”
