A Rundown Of The Charity Work Of Our New Favorite Newlyweds, Brad Pitt + Angelina Jolie

Posted by

In case you haven’t already heard the news, it’s wedding bells for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! The couple is known for giving millions of dollars to charity each year, so let’s take a look at how Brangelina has given back.

+ They donated millions to the Naankuse Lodge and Wildlife Sanctuary in Namibia, the country where their daughter Shiloh was born.

+ Their son Maddox has his name on the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which is all about taking care of the environment and helping communities in Cambodia.

+ Angelina has spoken publicly about her double mastectomy, which was done as a preventive measure against breast cancer. This has brought more awareness and understanding to this issue.

+ After this breast cancer news, Brad said, “It’s the bravest thing and I get a little emotional about the act she did for our family and telling her story to others. … It’s important that this testing is not available for everyone and it should be, and that there are surgical options and everyone should have these options.”

+ As part of her work to help refugees, Angie has been to Iraq, Syria, Chad, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Pakistan, Egypt, Cambodia, Thailand, Ecuador, Kenya, Namibia, Sri Lanka, North Caucasus, Jordan, New Delhi and Costa Rica.

+ Together, they were part of a “Maleficent” charity event that gave money to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

+ They’ve given a million to the United Nations’ Pakistan Emergency Fund after the country saw flooding.

+ After the town of Joplin, Missouri, was hit by a tornado, the couple donated about half a million dollars.

+ Sometimes celebs sell baby images to magazines, but when Brad and Angie sold the first pics of their twins, Knox and Vivienne, they donated all the money to the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

+ They designed very fancy (and expensive) cufflinks, with proceeds going toward Angelina’s very own org, Education Partnership for Children of Conflict.

+ They’ve given major support to the Human Rights Watch, an org that protects people’s rights.

+ They’ve helped Somalis with health care and homelessness by giving to Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid.

+ Angelina has spoken up against sexual assault in conflict zones, saying, “It is a myth that rape is an inevitable part of conflict. … It is a weapon of war aimed at civilians.”

+ Angelina has spent years aiding UNHCR, including as a Goodwill ambassador, and Brad has often been along to help her.

+ Ms. Jolie is a big fan of Malala and has donated big money to the Malala Fund.

+ Brad is one of the founders for Not On Our Watch, an organization that “generates lifesaving humanitarian assistance and protection for the vulnerable, marginalized and displaced.”

Whether as a couple or as individuals, Brad and Angelina have really helped make positive change. Congrats to the happy couple!
